It is a requirement that all candidates on a RYA Instructor training course are members of the RYA. If you are not already a member please click on the link below to join. Arranging membership prior to your course will help with the swift production of your instructor certificate upon successful completion of the instructor course.

Safe and Fun Course -
This safeguarding and child protection training course is required by all new Sailing, Windsurfing and Senior Instructors. It takes you through some guidance and legislation regarding working with young people and vulnerable adults. The use of scenarios help makes this online training course thought provoking and relevant to any centre or club. Also an excellent update for existing Instructors and Senior Instructors. Acceptable First Aid Courses
All instructors must hold a valid first aid certificate that is accepted by the RYA as suitable for instructors, see here for details of training requirements. If you do not currently hold a first aid certificate and would like to book one that is accepted by the RYA we offer these courses throughout the year, click here.
All instructors are required to sign the following health declaration as part of the process of registration to become a RYA instructor. Please ensure you can sign this declaration, if you are unsure please contact your course Trainer:
I declare that I am not suffering from any physical or mental impairment which has an adverse effect on my ability to properly discharge my duty of care as an instructor. I undertake to inform the RYA if this changes and agree to submit to a medical examination if requested by the RYA.
