SRC Marine Radio
Anchor Training is a recognised Training Centre for the marine radio short range certificate (SRC). These courses are suitable for anyone going onto the water who may need to use marine radio equipment.
We are able to offer two options for training, the traditional classroom style course and the new online course using RYA Interactive. Once you have completed either training course you will be eligible to attend an SRC exam. Details of the courses can be found below along with current exam venues/dates, please read terms and conditions.
Online Course -
The online course takes you through the required syllabus in a clear, easy to follow and visual way. The radio is simulated within the course and allows you to practise all of the calls and procedures needed as you progress. As with all interactive courses you can take the course in the leisure of your own home/office and at your own pace. Once enrolled you will receive the RYA student pack via post to help you through the course. This is an extremely convenient way to take a professional training course. Click here for a video about the online course. We strongly recommend that customers take the free taster course prior to booking the interactive course to check compatability of devices.
Classroom Course -
The classroom based course follows the course programme and syllabus in an intensive one day format. Prior to the course you will be required to complete some reading/study at home, this will take approximately 3 hours. Doing the classroom course does allow more opportunity to practise using the actual radio units during the training on our fully operational Simrad or Standard Horizon radio simulators. One of our instructors will be with you for the day to guide you through the course programme.

SRC Exam -
The SRC exam tests all aspects of the SRC syllabus to ensure a thorough understanding of marine radio procedures and voice protocols. During the exam both theory and practical aspects of the SRC syllabus will be assessed. Prior to the beginning of the exam you will be given some time to familiarise yourself with the radio unit , its features and menu system.
Please note that to attend the exam you must have evidence of completing either the classroom course or online course. The exam fee is passed directly from us to the RYA.
